Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt announced today the end of his office’s investigation into the Department of Health and Senior Services’ elder abuse hotline. The Attorney General’s Office has been working in conjunction with DHSS to ensure changes were implemented, the Attorney General’s Office also provided additional recommendations to ensure that previous issues won’t continue into the future.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt announced today the conclusion of an investigation and litigation that provided restitution for numerous Missourians who were left affected by the 2018 closure and bankruptcy of Gateway Buick GMC of Hazelwood, Missouri. In all, the Attorney General’s investigation revealed more than $1.9 million dollars in financial damages to customers of Gateway.

Attorney General Schmitt announced today in a press conference the results of a statewide inventory of all untested sexual assault kits as part of his SAFE Kits Initiative. As a result of the inventory, which was an exhaustive review of untested sexual assault kits stored by hospitals, law enforcement, and ancillary organizations, 6,987 sexual assault kits were found.

Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt is warning Missourians about a recent increase in robocalls purporting to be a Medicare representative. The robocall then states that the person receiving the call is eligible for the top of the line medical braces, and that to receive those braces they should press “1” or press “9” to be put on the No-Call list.

Jefferson City, Mo. – Attorney General Eric Schmitt announced today that his office has filed suit against a Florida-based business, Allied Health Supply LLC, and its President, Claudia Sullivan (a/k/a Claudia Ledesma), for violations of Missouri’s No-Call Law and Missouri’s Telemarketing Practices Law. The lawsuit alleges the Defendants violated Missouri law by calling Missouri residents who were on the Missouri No-Call list and offering orthopedic braces.

St. Louis, Mo. - Today, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt presented the inaugural “Back the Blue” award to North County Police Cooperative Officer Michael Langsdorf posthumously. Langsdorf was shot and killed when he responded to a call at Clay’s Wellston Food Market in late June.

Jefferson City, Mo. - Today, Missouri Attorney General Eric Schmitt, along with several other states, announced a multi-state settlement with pharmaceutical distributor Reckitt Benckiser for improperly marketing and otherwise promoting the drug Suboxone, resulting in improper expenditures of state Medicaid funds. Missouri’s share of the settlement is $4,354,401.58 federal and state combined with $1,458,823.01 directly to the State.

Puppy Love Kennel is located in Dallas County, Missouri. Inspections by the Missouri Department of Agriculture found multiple continued infractions and sustained substandard conditions.

St. Louis, Mo. – Since the first charges in St. Louis were issued through the Safer Streets Initiative roughly 100 days ago, Assistant Attorneys General deputized as Special Assistant U.S. Attorneys (SAUSAs) have secured 58 indictments to date. Charges filed against defendants range from felon in possession of a firearm to drug trafficking to carjacking resulting in death.
