The Attorney General’s Cold Case/SAKI Section encompasses the both Cold Case Unit and the Sexual Assault Kit Initiative (SAKI) Unit, with the ultimate mission of providing a measure of justice and closure for victims and their loved ones, and to hold perpetrators of violent crimes accountable.
The Cold Case/SAKI Section provides assistance and support to law enforcement agencies across the State of Missouri in the investigation and prosecution of unsolved homicide and other violent crimes. This effort takes a fresh look at cold cases and leverages advances in forensic science, with the hope of providing a new focus, direction, and possible resolution. The team collaborates with the Missouri State Highway Patrol (MSHP) Crime Lab to re-ignite stagnant investigations and to identify rape cases that were never investigated.
Cold Case/SAKI Section also collaborates with local and state law enforcement agencies’ cold case and investigative units. To date, the Section has worked extensively with the Dust Squad within the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department’s homicide department, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department Cold Case Section, and the MSHP Division of Drug and Crime Control.
Additionally, the Cold Case/SAKI Section partners with the FBI, MSHP, and local law enforcement agencies to conduct excavation operations for human remains.

COLD CASES
No Joke – Missouri Cold Case Playing Cards
 The FBI, in partnership with the Missouri Attorney General’s Office, Missouri State Highway Patrol, Missouri Department of Corrections, and law enforcement agencies statewide, have created the 2nd Edition of the Missouri Cold Case Playing Cards. This deck highlights 52 unsolved homicides, missing persons, and unidentified human remains cases that have occurred throughout the state. These cards are being distributed to generate information and leads in solving these cold cases. Every tip has the potential to bring us one step closer to obtaining justice for victims and giving a sense of closure to their surviving family members.
The victims in this deck are someone’s mother, father, sister, brother, wife, husband, child, or loved one. You might know something about these cases or you might have information on other unsolved crimes.
You may think the information you have is not important or would not be helpful. However, that information just might be the missing link that family members have been waiting years for that could solve their loved one’s case.
