The Law

Section 285.530 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri prohibits businesses entities or employers who receive state administered tax credits, abatements or loans, as well as those awarded contracts or grants from the State of Missouri in excess of $5000, from knowingly employing, hiring for employment, or continuing to employ an unauthorized alien to perform work in Missouri.

Filing a Complaint

Section 285.535 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri allows any state official, business entity, or state resident to file a complaint regarding the employment of unauthorized aliens.

A valid complaint shall include a description of the alleged violator as well as the actions constituting the violation, and the date and location where the actions occurred. The law also provides that a complaint that alleges a violation solely or primarily on the basis of national origin, ethnicity, or race shall be deemed invalid.

Requirements of Employers

Section 285.535 of the Revised Statutes of Missouri requires any business entity having a contract for services or grants in excess of $5,000 with the state or any political subdivision to file an affidavit showing compliance with this law.
