JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced today that his office successfully defended at the Western District Court of Appeals the convictions of Vicente Roldan-Marron for first-degree murder and armed criminal action. The appeals court affirmed the circuit court’s judgment denying Roldan-Marron post-conviction relief on a claim that he received ineffective assistance of counsel during his original criminal case.
“As Attorney General, I will enforce the laws as written, which includes defending the convictions of dangerous criminals,” said Attorney General Bailey. “I’m proud of the work my Criminal Appeals Unit put into this case. The Attorney General’s Office will continue to obtain justice for victims throughout the state.”
Following a four-day jury trial in Jackson County, Roldan-Marron was convicted of first-degree murder and armed criminal action for the brutal murder of his wife in 2017. The evidence showed that Roldan-Marron repeatedly stabbed his wife until she died and that he mutilated her body.
Roldan-Marron was sentenced to life imprisonment without parole for first-degree murder and life imprisonment for armed criminal action. The Western District Court of Appeals’ decision upholds his original conviction and sentence.
