JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced today that his office has filed charges against Mason W. Roller, 30, for allegedly defrauding a consumer in connection with his business, Bearded Dev Ops. Roller faces one count of Deceptive Business Practices for defrauding and financially exploiting the victim in Greene County.
“The Attorney General’s Office takes exploitation of Missourians seriously,” said Attorney General Bailey. “We work diligently to investigate fraudulent companies and individuals, and when we find credible evidence, we take swift action.”
The charge asserts that between March of 2021 and August of 2022, Roller’s business falsely promised a consumer that, in exchange for a large down payment as well as subsequent installment payments, he would develop a software application for the victim. After the initial payment, Roller allegedly continued making false promises to induce further installment payments from the consumer.
Consumers who believe they have been scammed by a business should file a complaint with the Attorney General’s Office by calling the Consumer Protection hotline at (800) 392-8222 or by submitting a complaint online at ago.mo.gov.
General Bailey reminds the public that charges against Roller are allegations and, as in all criminal cases, the defendant is presumed innocent unless or until proven guilty in a court of law.
