JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Today, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey issued the following statement after the Court handed down a favorable ruling in his case against Jackson County and its illegal assessments for Missourians’ property taxes:
“The Court has set a trial date of June 6, 2024 for our case against Jackson County and its illegal assessment scheme for property taxes. This is a huge step in the right direction for all Missourians who have been overtaxed. A court has already found that Jackson County’s assessments ‘failed the citizens,’ were ‘inaccurate,’ and that there was a ‘lack in leadership and preparation of Jackson County officials.’ The evidence in this case is overwhelming, which is why I’m confident in our ultimate success on the merits. My office has put in long hours on this case, and we will not stop until we’ve achieved justice for all Jackson County residents.”

The trial against Tyler Technologies, Jackson County’s property appraisal contractor, was also set for April 2025.
