JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Today, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced that he has recruited Kelly King to serve as Deputy Attorney General. In this role, King will oversee the day-to-day management of Missouri’s law firm and serve as a senior adviser to General Bailey.
“Kelly King has earned a reputation of being a tough-on-crime prosecutor who has sentenced countless criminals to hundreds of years in prison,” said Attorney General Bailey. “She mentored me during my time as a prosecutor in Warren County, which is why I’m so excited to have her on my team. Kelly will serve Missourians across the state with the same drive and distinction with which she has served Warren and Montgomery counties throughout her career.”
Since November 2014, King has served as the elected Warren County Prosecuting Attorney, managing a team of attorneys and support staff dedicated to protecting Missouri’s streets. Prior to that, she served as an assistant prosecuting attorney, and juvenile attorney, in both Warren and Montgomery counties.
King earned her law degree from the University of Missouri. Before law school, King graduated from the University of Missouri – Kansas City with a Bachelor’s degree in English.
“It has been a privilege to spend my career fighting for justice in Warren and Montgomery counties,” said King. “I’m grateful for, and humbled by, the opportunity to continue that work across the state with the Attorney General’s Office.”
Throughout her impressive career as a prosecutor, King has secured more than fifty felony convictions at trial, and attained countless more guilty pleas. Just this year, King worked directly with the Attorney General’s Office to obtain a first-degree murder conviction, in which the defendant received a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
“Kelly King is a fierce advocate for justice, and one of the finest attorneys in the state. I could not be more thrilled to have her join my senior leadership team,” said Attorney General Andrew Bailey.
