What Do These Settlements Mean?

Put simply, these new opioid settlements mean more money and resources to those Missourians who need it most.

The settlements resolve legal claims that Missouri has against the opioid manufacturers and pharmacies, resulting in needed funding for treatment centers and other opioid addiction resources.

Additionally, the incentive structure of the term sheet allows for the state of Missouri and the Missouri Attorney General’s Office to collect additional money if a certain number of subdivisions sign on to the settlement agreement as well. The additional money for the State goes to the State’s Opioid Addiction Treatment and Recovery Fund.

Therefore, these settlements could mean roughly double the new settlement base amount for opioid treatment and abatement.
