What Does This Settlement Mean?

Put simply, this settlement means money and resources to those who need it most.

This settlement resolves legal claims that the Missouri Attorney General’s Office has against the opioid manufacturer Johnson and Johnson and a number of opioid manufacturers, resulting in needed funding for treatment centers and other opioid addiction resources.

Additionally, the incentive structure of the term sheet allows for the state of Missouri and the Missouri Attorney General’s Office to collect additional money if a certain number of subdivisions sign on to the settlement agreement as well.

Therefore, this settlement could mean roughly double the original settlement amount for opioid treatment and abatement.
