    Jefferson City, Mo. – In an effort to enforce the laws as written and protect Missourians, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced today that the Missouri Court of Appeals, Eastern District upheld the conviction of Michael A. Black for the shooting and killing of his stepson, Alexander Koch, in August 2017. The appeals court affirmed the circuit court’s judgment, rejecting Black’s claims that the circuit court abused its discretion by excluding evidence of the victim’s past violent acts against third parties.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - In an effort to enforce the laws as written and protect Missourians, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced today that his office secured a guilty verdict against Daymond Reeves for the 2020 murder of Allan Brewer. Reeves was sentenced on March 7 to life without the possibility for parole for first degree murder and fifteen years for armed criminal action.

  • Attorney General Bailey Obtains Warren County Conviction for Stealing and Deceptive Business Practices

    JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - In an effort to protect consumers, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced that Daniel Cahill pled guilty in Warren County Circuit Court to the Class E Felony of Deceptive Business Practice and the Class D Felony of Stealing Over $750. Cahill was immediately sentenced to a four-year suspended sentence with multiple probation requirements, including full restitution for the victim. He has an additional case in St. Louis County pending for additional victims.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - In an effort to protect Missouri consumers and enforce the laws as written, Missouri Attorney General Bailey joined a coalition of seven states in shutting down a massive robocaller operation involving John Caldwell Spiller II and his business partner Jakob Mears, the owners of Texas-based Rising Eagle Capital Group LLC and JSquared Telecom LLC, as well as Rising Eagle Capital Group–Cayman. The defendants blasted billions of illegal robocalls to people across the country.

    JEFFERSON CITY, MO – In an effort to inform and protect consumers during National Consumer Protection Week, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced today the top ten consumer complaints received by his office in 2022. As a whole, the Missouri Attorney General’s Office received 114,417 consumer complaints in 2022. Advocates within the Consumer Protection Unit obtained $15,642,322 in restitution for consumers through their mediation process in 2022.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Mo.- In an effort to protect women and children and enforce the laws as written, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey led a coalition of 19 attorneys general in directing more letters to five major pharmacies warning them that distribution of abortion pills in the mail would violate both federal and state law. These letters follow coalition letters that Attorney General Bailey sent to CVS and Walgreens earlier in February after those companies announced that they are seeking FDA certification to use the mail to sell abortion pills.

    JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. - In an effort to enforce the laws as written, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey announced today that his office has asked the Missouri Supreme Court to set an execution date for Brian Dorsey. Two days before Christmas in 2006, Dorsey’s cousins—Sarah Bonnie and Ben Bonnie—took Dorsey into their home because two drug dealers were trying to collect on Dorsey’s drug debt. That same night, Dorsey stole the Bonnie’s single-shot shotgun and murdered both Sarah and Ben in their beds. Dorsey also sexually assaulted Sarah. The Bonnies left behind a young daughter.
