The No-Call list is a list of residential and cell phone numbers of Missourians who have indicated to the Attorney General's Office that they don't want to be called by telemarketers. The law prohibits telemarketers from calling those individuals that have been added to the list, with some exceptions that have been written into the law. 

You may register by electronically submitting a form or by calling toll-free 1-866-NOCALL1 (1-866-662-2551). There is no cost to consumers to get on the list. There will be a cost to telemarketers to get copies of the list.

No. The law does not allow business phone numbers to be included on the No-Call list. 

No. You only need to register once, making sure to include all of your personal phone numbers if you have more than one line. Telemarketers covered by the law then cannot call those registered phone numbers — it does not matter whether there are two family members or six.

No. If your phone number and address remain the same, then you do not need to re-register.

You need to register again using your new phone number. Additionally, you need to call the No-Call Unit at 1-866-289-9633 in order to remove your old phone numbers from the No-Call list.

For the best protection, sign up for the Missouri No-Call program. It is a proven success. The Attorney General's Office has obtained the phone numbers of Missourians on the new federal Do-Not-Call list and added them to Missouri's No-Call list. Attorney General Schmitt will prosecute telemarketers who violate either the federal or state No-Call law.

The state law allows certain telemarketers to continue calling consumers on the No-Call list. Those exceptions include calls from: 

• Those that have a current business relationship with you.
• Those that you have expressly invited or permitted (for example, filling your name and number on an entry form).
• Certain not-for-profit groups if the person calling is a member of the group.
• Persons calling on a referral or working from their homes, or people licensed for a trade or profession who are setting or attempting to set an appointment.

To further decrease telemarketing calls under a federal law, tell telemarketers to put you on their no-call lists. You can sue them if they call you back within a year.

The Attorney General's Office will submit names every three months to allow telemarketers time to add names to their no-call lists.

Yes. Regardless of whether your number is on the No-Call List or not, Missouri law prohibits certain conduct by telemarketers.

For example, telemarketers may not:

• Threaten, intimidate, or use profane or obscene language;
• Call before 8:00 am or after 9:00 pm;
• Continue calling after you have asked the telemarketer to stop calling.

If any of these things happen, please file a complaint with the Missouri No-Call Unit.

A telemarketer faces a civil penalty up to either $1,000 or $5,000 for each knowing violation of the law, depending on which law is violated.
