Attorney General Nixon hosts 300 local government officials at 11th Ethics in Government conference
July 10, 2008 More than 300 elected and appointed local government officials registered for the 11th Ethics in Government conference sponsored by Attorney General Nixon in Jefferson City on July 10.
Participants heard presentations by assistant attorneys general with expertise in such areas as the Sunshine law, nepotism, the Americans with Disabilities Act, environmental issues, consumer protection issues, sovereign immunity, sexual harassment, employment issues, and the effect of the Hancock Amendment on local governments. A panel of three experienced journalists also provide their perspectives on the Sunshine law and answered questions from conference participants.
More than 2,100 local officials have attended the free all-day conferences that Nixon has offered since 1996.
