Jefferson City, MO. – Attorney General Chris Koster said today that Tyler C. Steinman of Kansas City has pleaded guilty to murder in the second degree in the shooting death of Larry Yoss from rural Appleton City. St. Clair County Circuit Judge James K. Journey sentenced Steinman to 18 years in the Department of Corrections.. Steinman must serve 85 percent of that sentence before he is eligible for parole.
The shooting occurred after a confrontation at Yoss’s home in rural St. Clair County when Steinman and his then-girlfriend, Roni Scott, went to the home. Scott pleaded guilty in November to voluntary manslaughter and was expected to be called as a state’s witness in Steinman’s trial. Her sentencing is set June 8 before Judge Journey.
Assistant Attorney General Elizabeth Bock assisted St. Clair County Prosecuting Attorney Joleene Simmons on the case.
