Statement by Attorney General Koster on Kenneth Pearson, Stan McClatchey v. Robin Carnahan ruling

Jefferson City, Mo. – Attorney General Chris Koster today released the following statement on Circuit Judge Daniel R. Green’s ruling upholding HB 193, the Congressional district map passed by the Missouri General Assembly:

“The case involving the constitutionality of the new Missouri Congressional map presented difficult and novel legal issues.  While we have received a favorable ruling from the Circuit Court, we recognize that this is just the latest step in the process and the issue will likely return to the Missouri Supreme Court in the coming days for a final decision.”

The case was defended on behalf of Attorney General Koster by Solicitor General James R. Layton, a member of Attorney General Koster’s executive staff.
