Caldwell County man gets 10 years for domestic assault

Jefferson City, Mo. – Attorney General Chris Koster said today that Judge Bart Spears has sentenced Brandon Rennenger, 30, to 10 years in state prison for 1st degree domestic assault, a class B felony. The case had been moved from Caldwell County to Clinton County on a change of venue. Rennenger pled guilty to the crime before Judge Spears in February.

Koster said on July 3, 2009, Rennenger assaulted the victim, his girlfriend, by punching her repeatedly in the face and kicking her repeatedly, resulting in permanent hearing loss and serious physical injury.

“Victims of domestic violence are among our state's most vulnerable, and we owe it to them to make sure that we are working as seamlessly as possible through all aspects of our law enforcement and legal systems to protect them,” Koster said. “This office will continue to focus on providing protection for victims and on prosecuting their abusers.”

Koster said Assistant Attorney General Julie Tolle assisted Caldwell County Prosecutor Brady Kopeck on the case.
