AG Koster says major banks will meet today in Jefferson City to discuss ways to help Joplin homeowners

Jefferson City, Mo. – Leaders of major banks, loan servicers and insurers will meet today with Attorney General Chris Koster to discuss ways to help Joplin consumers with mortgage and credit issues caused by the tornado.

“The next few months are going to be a critical time in the financial lives of many Joplin residents,” Koster said. “The purpose of the meeting is to address possible solutions for helping these residents with the mortgage and credit issues that are sure to arise.”

Koster said he hopes the session will lead to some uniform solutions for Joplin residents who are mortgage customers of a variety of banks.

NOTE: Attorney General Koster will be available for telephone interviews following the meeting. To schedule an interview, contact Nanci Gonder, Press Secretary, at 573-751-8844 or nanci.gonder@ago.mo.gov.
