Attorney General Koster announces Putnam County man sentenced to 45 years

Jefferson City, Mo. -– Attorney General Chris Koster said today Putnam County Circuit Judge Jack Peace has sentenced James “Randall” Schnelle, 63, to serve 25 years for first-degree burglary and 20 years for first-degree assault. The sentences are to run consecutively.

Koster said Schnelle, of Unionville, was accused of breaking into a female acquaintance’s house during the early morning hours and striking her several times in the face, head, and neck, causing serious head injuries and swelling of the brain.

“This sentence cannot undo what has been done, but I am thankful that the defendant will be removed from society for a very long time,” Koster said.

Koster said Assistant Attorneys General Tim Anderson and David Hansen served as special prosecutors in the case
