Jefferson City, Mo. – Attorney General Chris Koster said today that between January 1 and June 30 this year, his office’s Division of Consumer Protection has handled 38,279 consumer complaints and inquiries, and has obtained $2,498,032 in restitution for victims of scam artists.
“The Attorney General’s office encourages consumers to file complaints with our Consumer Protection Hotline,” Koster said. “Our consumer-protection staff can help mediate a complaint, investigate scams, and take legal action against businesses if necessary. Consumers can register complaints with our hotline at 800-392-8222 or online at www.ago.mo.gov.”
Koster said the website also provides more detailed information on how consumers can protect themselves from scammers.
