Attorney General Koster releases comment on bond for Dale Helmig

Jefferson City, Mo. - Attorney General Chris Koster released the following comment on today's Western District Court of Appeal's decision to allow Dale Helmig to be released on bond pending the Court's review of the case:

"A career in criminal law enforcement leaves me surprised that the appellate court would release an individual who has been found guilty by a jury of first degree murder on a $5,000 bond. Assuming, as the Court does, that Mr. Helmig stands in the shoes of a pretrial first degree murder defendant, a bond of $5,000 is nearly without precedent."
