Court sentences child molester to 50 years

Chillicothe, Mo. - A Livingston County judge on Mar. 11 sentenced Chillicothe resident George Jackson to 50 years in prison. Jackson, 57, pleaded guilty on Dec.15 to multiple counts of statutory rape and sodomy as a result of the repeated molestation of a minor, Attorney General Chris Koster announced.

Jackson, a former Department of Corrections employee, was sentenced by Judge Warren L. McElwain following emotional testimony from the victim during the sentencing hearing.

"Although we cannot ease the pain this victim has suffered," Koster said. "Her strength and resolve in speaking out, gave us the tools we needed to see that justice was done."

The Attorney General assisted in the case at the request of the Livingston County Prosecuting Attorney's Office.
