Assistant Attorney General receives prestigious award from the Missouri Bar

Jefferson City, Mo. - Jayne T. Woods, an Assistant Attorney General in the office of Attorney General Jay Nixon, recently received a prestigious David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Award from the Missouri Bar. The award was presented at an awards banquet during the Missouri Bar meeting in Kansas City on Sept. 19.

The David J. Dixon Appellate Advocacy Awards were created by the Missouri Bar Foundation to recognize outstanding achievement in appellate practice by young lawyer members of the Missouri Bar. The award is named after the late Judge Dixon, whose tenacity, professionalism and judicial skills epitomized outstanding appellate practice.

Ms. Woods is an attorney in the Criminal Division of the Attorney General's Office, where she is responsible for representing the state in felony criminal appeals before the Courts of Appeal and the Missouri Supreme Court. She joined the Attorney General's Office in 2005.

A Columbia native, Ms. Woods is a graduate of Truman State University and the University of Missouri, Columbia, School of Law.
