Attorney General's Office part of tonight's Internet Safety Night, with Lange Middle School in Columbia hosting national event by videoconference

What: Internet Safety Night, with Columbia as the national videoconference host; 37 remote sites in Missouri and five remote sites in Arkansas, New York, Pennsylvania and Virginia also will be participating.

What is it: Students, parents and interested members of the community in Columbia and 42 remote sites will have the opportunity to hear and ask questions about online safety from several experts, with the remote sites participating via videoconference. Topics will include online predators, cyber-bullying, identity theft, and other Internet-related issues.

Featured Speakers: James Finch (keynote), Assistant Director, Cyber Division, Federal Bureau of Investigation; Chris Pickering, Chief Investigator, Missouri Attorney General's Office; Detective Andy Anderson, Mid-Missouri Internet Crimes; Lt. Joe Laramie, MO ICAC Task Force; and Jeff Valenti, Asst. US Attorney, Western District of Missouri.

When: 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 23, 2008. The speakers will begin at 6:45 p.m.; at 7:35 p.m., there will be an interactive panel discussion.

Event host: The Missouri Research and Education Network (MORENet), which provides Internet connectivity, technical support, and videoconferencing services and training to Missouri's K-12 schools, colleges and universities, public libraries, health care, state government and other affiliated organizations.
