Fredericktown man pleads guilty to statutory rape and sodomy in case prosecuted by Nixon

St. Genevieve, Mo. - A Madison County man plead guilty on Tuesday (May 20) to four felony charges related to sexual crimes against minors. Clifford Green (DOB - 1/26/60) of Fredericktown was convicted of one counts of statutory rape in the first degree, one count of statutory sodomy in the first degree, one count of statutory rape in the second degree and one count of statutory sodomy in the second degree. He will be sentenced on July 17.

Green took his plea in St. Genevieve County Circuit Court for the convenience of the court. The charges were originally filed in Madison County, alleging that Green committed the crimes in July 2006 against a 13 and a 15-year-old girl. The victims were runaways from a Division of Youth Services facility. The office of Attorney General Jay Nixon prosecuted the case after being appointed by the Madison County Prosecutor due to a conflict of interest.

At sentencing, Green faces between five years and life in prison on the first degree statutory rape and sodomy charges, and up to 15 years on the 2nd degree statutory rape and sodomy charges because he pled guilty as a prior and persistent offender.
