Jefferson City, Mo. — The independent investigative team looking into multiple allegations that the Governor’s Office and the Office of Administration are not in compliance with Missouri’s records retention and Sunshine laws has requested, and has been granted, an extension of time to continue its investigation.
The team, headed up by former superintendent of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Col. C.E. “Mel” Fisher and served by St. Louis attorney Chet Pleban as its legal counsel, originally expected to complete its investigation by Jan. 15. When it became apparent the investigation could not be completed by that date, Pleban sought a 60-day extension from Attorney General Jay Nixon. On Monday (Jan. 14), the Attorney General granted the team an extension until March 17, 2008.
Any questions about the independent investigation should be directed to the investigative team’s legal counsel, Chet Pleban.
