Jefferson City, Mo. — More than 47,000 Missourians have signed up for the state's new No Call list during the first two days of registration, Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon announced today. Nixon has been visiting cities around the state to register senior citizens for the list that will help reduce the number of unwanted telemarketing calls.
Nixon today reminded citizens who use the toll-free number to register to remember to use the "1" before dialing the toll-free number. To register by phone, dial 1-866-NOCALL1 (1-866-662-2551).
"The response to this program is phenomenal and shows the support of the public for such a program," Nixon said.
Missouri residents can also register their home phone numbers on the No Call list free of charge by visiting the Attorney General's Web site at www.moago.org or by calling 1-866 NOCALL1.
Inquiries from consumers should be directed to consumer@ago.mo.gov or 1-800-392-8222 (from within Missouri) or 573-751-3321 (outside Missouri).
All media inquiries should be directed to Press Secretary John Fougere.
