Nixon names task force to assist in implementation of new racial profiling laws

St. Louis, Mo. — Missouri Attorney General Jay Nixon today named 15 community leaders and law enforcement representatives to a task force that will monitor the implementation of the new Missouri law to prevent racial profiling by law enforcement.

Nixon said the task force will assist the Office of the Attorney General in duties associated with the new law, including educating the community about the law, analyzing data required by the new law and presenting the data in an annual report to the Governor and the General Assembly, and suggesting changes to the law.

"This law should be used as a way to build trust between law enforcement and the community, and this committee can help make that goal a reality," said Attorney General Jay Nixon.
