Jefferson City, Mo. – Missouri Attorney General Josh Hawley announced that a Cass County judge accepted the guilty plea of defendant Ronald Johnson, 49, of Raymore, MO to the offense of Official Misconduct. Between 2011 and 2014, while acting as the elected Auditor of Cass County, the defendant claimed reimbursement for expenses not due and appropriated cellular devices paid for by the county for personal use.

“I promised to fight public corruption and that is what I am doing,” Hawley said. “There is no place for public officials who abuse their power—no matter how big or small the offense—in Missouri.”

As part of his plea agreement, Johnson agreed to pay restitution to Cass County in the amount of $2,865.09 and the court approved probation for the defendant that, if revoked, could subject defendant up to 1 year in the county jail and / or a fine of $1,000.

The case was litigated by Assistant Attorney General Steven M. Kretzer with assistance from AGO Investigator Steven Hayden.
