Jefferson City, Mo. – Attorney General Josh Hawley announced today that his office has secured two indictments for murder involving a Douglas County father and son.

The first indictment charges James “Lee” Aborn, 66, of Ava, Missouri with one count of murder in the second degree, one count of assault in the first degree and two counts of armed criminal action for the January 26, 2017 shooting that took the life of one man and injured another.

The second indictment charges David Aborn, 39, with acting in concert with his father Lee Aborn to commit one count of murder in the second degree and one count of armed criminal action.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Department investigated the murder. The Douglas County Prosecuting Attorney requested the Attorney General's Office review the case due to a conflict and the Attorney General's Office will continue prosecuting the case now that the Douglas County Grand Jury has returned indictments.

At the time of this release, arraignment dates have not been set for the father and son.
