Fish in James River will be better protected under agreement between Nixon, MDNR and City Utilities
Springfield, Mo. — Under an agreement to help protect fish in the James River, City Utilities of Springfield will take steps to better control the temperature of water discharged from one of its cooling towers. The agreement between City Utilities, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources and Attorney General Jay Nixon was announced today by Nixon.

Springfield, Mo. — An illegal discharge of creosote into the Little Sac River from the demolition of a wood-treating facility in Springfield in March 2004 has led to the site owner and the demolition contractor paying $138,000 to the state of Missouri and the city of Springfield.

Moscow Mills developer jailed again for contempt; ignored court order to make improvements to sewage system
Troy, Mo. — A subdivision developer from Moscow Mills previously jailed for a week last December for contempt of court has been incarcerated again for ignoring a court order. Lincoln County Circuit Judge David Mobley ordered developer Michael T. Flynn to be jailed for contempt for refusing to comply with a court order to make environmental improvements to the wastewater treatment system at the Deer Run Estates subdivision near Troy.
