The Governmental Affairs Division protects the safety and well-being of citizens by ensuring that professionals such as doctors adhere to state laws and disciplinary rules.

Division attorneys represent many of the state's regulatory and licensing agencies, including the Board of Registration for Healing Arts and Lottery Commission. They also handle important litigation in all levels of federal and state courts and in state administrative hearings before the Administrative Hearing Commission.

Division attorneys represent the Department of Mental Health in a range of matters, including guardianship and release proceedings. They also pursue civil litigation when necessary to ensure nursing homes live up to their obligations to provide a safe and healthy environment for their residents.
