Before driving home a new or used car, be sure to get the vehicle's title. In Missouri, most car sales are void if the title is not transferred at the time of the sale. The title is your proof of ownership. See the Attorney General's All About Autos publication.

Many consumer complaints filed with the Attorney General involve consumers who have trouble getting their titles after the sale. Your slogan should be “No title, no deal.”

The Missouri Department of Revenue offers instructions on transferring a car title.
