Getting harder to find a car lease

The car business has been hurting for a few years (thus all the discounts, employee pricing, free Carfax reports, etc). One other change consumers are seeing is fewer offers for car leases. Apparently the big 3 US auto makers (Ford, GM, Chrysler) have stopped leasing through the finance companies they own.

You can still get a lease, but it will be harder to find, and it will be through a third-party lender, instead of the car maker itself.

If you're shopping for a car, check out our All About Autos publication.

We bought a brand new car in 1999 and paid it off in 2001. When we paid it off, we received the title in the mail that stated we were released from the financial obligation of the vehicle. In 2008, we sold he vehicle and the license bureau is telling the buyer that they need a letter from our financial institution. Why isn't the title releasing us from the financial obligation acceptable??

To Rick:

This is is a question for the license bureau who told you that. Or you could contact the central office of the Missouri Department of Revenue.

please help me find the correct department for acquiring information regarding the numerous stops on friday evening by Beverly Hills police in St. Louis, Mo. These are check points for insurance cards and drivers license. We understand that they have a grant allowing them to do this however it is a problem for the residents who need to enter their subdivision of Glen Echo Park

To Ann:

The Beverly Hills Police Department is the place to go to find out that information. If that doesn't work, you could try city hall in Beverly Hills - city administrator, mayor's office, etc.

PLEASE tell me what two senior citizens can do about a mini-van purchased at a buy/here-pay/here lot. What is their recourse? What can do about the lot that sold them a van and didn't tell them it had been wrecked on the driver's side rear this is unfair. the senior citizens have enough problems without being SCREWED over by a used car dealership! The side door behind the driver is very hard to shut, the hatch has a gap at the top, it rattles to no end, the front won't stay in alinement. HELP!!!!

To Carolyn:

If you think the dealer committed fraud by not disclosing the damage, you can file a complaint with our office.
