Shopping for a new credit card or checking account?

Not all are created equal. Interest rates, fees, minimum balance, perks and cash back are just a few of the factors to consider. The KC Star has an article on how to shop for credit cards and checking accounts.

It should be noted that the banking industry is highly regulated, and even the term 'free' checking has certain criteria that must be met. Banks are also required to give you disclosures and regulations that apply to that type of account, which will outline any possible fees and other features such as overdraft protection. Reading this information will help you avoid many of these fees and other problems.
