Watch for Publishers Clearing House scam
Pass this one along to all the seniors you know...
Consumers around the country are getting a call from crooks claiming to be Publishers Clearing House. This is a lot like the foreign lottery scams we see - the crook calls and says you have won a large prize, then asks for payment up front to cover taxes and fees. This tactic to get your personal info is called phishing, and many lottery scams use it.
As always, never give out your personal information (like Credit Card or bank #) to anyone who contacts you, whether it's by phone, e-mail or other. Only give it out when you initiate the contact.

I have received an email supposedly from Publishers Clearing House that I have won March's draw for 580000 English pounds. It uses Mary Ann Carter's name on it. What is your take on this?

I also received a check from publishers clearinghouse for over $5000. It says this is to cover taxes and fees. It has a contact person number and name and also has a contact person from the internal revenue sercie handling my winnings. Looks for real and legitimate. I am a 3rd place winner of 1 million dollars. Ne one else know ne thing about this?
